Why all Christmas music?

Here’s why you’ll be hearing all Christmas music on Life 97.3 this season!

We’re excited to announce that Life 97.3 will be switching to ALL Christmas music November 22 through Christmas weekend!

At Life 97.3, we pride ourselves in being the Northland’s Christmas music station! We will be playing all Christmas music this season so we can better share the story of Christmas with our listeners and those who may not normally listen to Christian radio. We want our friends, neighbors, and family in the Northland to hear the true meaning of Christmas: the story about a baby who grew to become our Savior and offers the gift of salvation to all who choose to receive it.

As we created this year’s Christmas playlist, we looked for songs that represent the message of Christ as well as songs that are classic Christmas favorites.

Here are answers to a few questions you may have about the switch to all Christmas music:

How, exactly, does Life 97.3 plan to share the message of Jesus this Christmas season?

In addition to the songs and artists sharing the message of Jesus and His love during the Christmas season, our local personalities will share their faith in Jesus—just like we do all year—and what living for Him looks like on a daily basis. By sharing our struggles and victories in real transparency and today’s language, we build relationships with listeners. When people hear a friend sharing the message of Jesus, they are much more likely to respond than when they hear it from a stranger.

We are also sharing the story of Jesus through a unique podcast called In Fulfillment, an audio reenactment of the Christmas story! Plus, we have cute kids reciting verses on air!

I hear songs from artists who I don’t think are Christian. Why?

The Christmas season is about the birth of Jesus some 2,000 years ago. But we have added a lot of music from the likes of Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Burl Ives, Brenda Lee, and other artists who sing classics you grew up with. These songs play a vital role in providing a welcoming, familiar music selection for those who haven’t grown up listening to Christian music artists. We also believe these songs represent the Christian values of family, fun, and joy!

How can I help?

Help us get the word out about all Christmas music on Life 97.3! Turn the office radio to Life 97.3 and see what people think! Mention it to your pastor and ask him to share it with the congregation. Mention it in your small group, your PTA meetings, or at your kids’ basketball or hockey games. Send emails to friends and family who live in the Northland. Spread the word to your friends on Facebook—and follow our Facebook page! The more people we can share the word with, the more people who can hear about Jesus and His love!

And if you come up with a great idea, email me at [email protected] so we can share it on the air or on our website!

I truly believe playing all Christmas music is an effective and important way to meet people where they are with the message of Jesus. Last year, we heard from many people who started listening to Life 97.3 because of the Christmas music—and now listen every day. Several listeners deepened their relationship with Jesus, and some even started a relationship with Him.

Thank you for praying for this ministry effort and our team at Life 97.3. If you have any questions or would like to know more, please feel free to email me anytime at [email protected]. You can also call 218-722-6700 during office hours to speak with me.
