A teething baby.
You can’t miss the symptoms. Irritability, loss of appetite, difficulty sleeping, and excessive drooling are just some of the symptoms a sleep deprived parent is on the lookout for.
My three month old son displayed all of these symptoms tonight. After hours of his crying, we finally put the pieces together and realized that he’s breaking his first tooth.
Exhausted, we tried every remedy we could find on the Internet. After about three hours of excessive tears, I was finally able to calm him down. Long enough to eat a frozen burrito. But as the last bite of cheese dribbled down my own chin, the water works started up again.
God’s love. It’s much like the parent of a teething baby.
If standing on my head while eating a bowl of oatmeal would bring my child peace tonight, I would do that ten times over. I think God would do that to reach you too. Instead, he chose to send his son to the cross for you. He went to great lengths to set you free..
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:10).
That’s a love that can cover any pain, hurt, or inadequacy…including infant teething.
